Appy, the mas­cot of the Sales­force AppEx­change, was hav­ing a 1 year anniver­sary. Appy has fans who were wish­ing her well on her birth­day via Twit­ter, Face­book and in per­son at Sales­force events. This page col­lects those birth­day wish­es into a sin­gle place for fans to say Appy Birth­day.

The con­stant­ly updat­ed ani­ma­tion on the page is pow­ered by a cus­tom Lar­avel CMS on Heroku. Through the course of the birth­day cel­e­bra­tion, new wish­es were por­ing in. The Wish Man­age­ment CMS was a quick way to man­age wish­es in real­time. Dur­ing the cam­paign run, the Appy Birth­day expe­ri­ence was one of the most pop­u­lar spots on Sales​force​.com.

You’ll have to wait for Appy’s birth­day to come around again to sub­mit your own wish though.

Before Appy hit her 1^st birth­day, the AppEx­change had already reached it’s 5 mil­lionth app instal­la­tion. Mile­stones are meant to be marked. We worked with Sales­force to build this site to com­mem­o­rate the occa­sion. This is anoth­er dynam­ic ani­ma­tion using Heroku as the back end.
